Sands was spraying insecticide from an aerosol can. It was ignited by a stove that was being used for heating or cooking at 12:13 A.M. Fredrick Turner, housing authority manager responded to two apartments in the high-rise projects, police said.
Sands was rushed to Church Home and Hospital with 1st degree burns on her back and arms. Henderson was brought to John's Hopkins Medical Center with possible smoke inhalation, but the hospital reported that the baby is ok and was uninjured.
Fire fighter said Renee Henderson, mother of child was uninjured. There was fire damage to the kitchen and furnishings in Sands apartment because of combustion. Fire investigators said the incident was accidental.
