Writing Assignment #5

Art is one of many hobbies that Kelsey Weiner, 16 of Plainview has mastered.

"I like to do art because it gives me a way to express myself," Weiner who is a junior at Plainview Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School said. "It allows me to show a different side of myself through the use of just a pencil."

Weiner has taken many art classes throughout her time in high school. She has taken drawing and painting classes and continues to show her creativity through the use of art.

"Art isn't always easy but it's always fun," Weiner said. For many students drawing and painting are not easy and they do not find it to be a way to express their creativity.

She has drawn many pieces that seem to amaze the Weiner Family. To this day the Weiner family still doesn't know where she got her skills. Every time she draws or paints something it continues to shock the family and they find it amazing.

"I began doing art when I was in 7th grade and the love has continued to grow." Weiner said. Over the last few years her sills have sharpened and her abilities have grown just like her love for the arts. She has experimented with different mediums and plans to explore different techniques and styles in an art class this summer which is being held at the Huntington Art League.

Art can be interpreted differently depending upon someones previous experiences. Not only are there different mediums but there are also different styles and types. Some artists prefer painting while others explore the world of sculpture.

Weiner said "I like to paint most when I am outside so that I can use nature to inspire me." This is very common for some artists. They find they can be most creative when they can interpret nature and the environment around them.

"My favorite artist is M.C. Escher because he draws his ideas from all different parts of his life." Many artists find the best source of material to be from their personal life.

Personal experience can help your art come alive. Art is a good hobby to have and is a great way to express your creativity.

Assignment 1 Post 2

The Obama Administration is starting to deal with economic situation. As of Monday, the administrations  "put the biggest banks on notice." The United States government will become the biggest shareholder if regulators decide that the banks are not strong enough and more downturns will occur in the economy.

I find it very important that the Obama Administration deal with this situation. Our economy continues to go downhill, more people are getting laid off and are not able to afford many things. The banks are not the only businesses that need help from the government. The economy is hurting so many businesses, that the money that is being given out to help the economic situations needs to be evenly divided among those businesses.

If we do not do something fast the economy will continue to down spin and more jobs will be lost, people will lose everything and we will be dealing with another Great Depression. All banks need to pass the "stress test" so that banks will no longer have issues.

I believe the banks should be a private matter but the government needs to make sure they check up on the banks, and if they see something wrong or suspicious, then they should step in and change it. More work needs to be focused on helping the common person out in the economic situation. The banks may need help but other people and businesses do as well.

Assignment 1 Post 1

The Obama Administration is starting to deal with economic situation. As of Monday, the administrations "put the biggest banks on notice." The United States government will become the biggest shareholder if regulators decide that the banks are not strong enough and more downturns will occur in the economy.

The government is starting to demand "direct ownership stake in major banks." One of the largest groups to receive help is Citigroup. They have received $45 billion in direct assistance. The twenty biggest banks will now be required to undergo a new "stress test" starting Wednesday February 25, 2009. This new test is to determine if every bank has enough capital to survive the economy.

If the banks come up short then the government will need to raise more capital. The government is trying to make sure that the banks strengthen their capitals by replacing shares.
